Kalachakra Sand Mandala 2026
Join us for a extremely rare and special event.
The construction of the KALACHAKRA SAND MANDALA (Wheel of Time)
at the
HEAD WATERS
(Lower Lodge at Mount Shasta City Park)
Five week creation of the KALACHAKRA Sand Mandala by master artist Losang Samten.
Losang Samten is returning to Mount Shasta for his fourth annual visit and has agreed to recreate the Kalachakra Sand Mandala in its full form. Losang is one in a small group of artists whom are qualified and authorized to create this intricate form of the Mandala. The creation of this particular traditional piece for our 2026 exhibit required the approval of H.H. the 14th Dalai Lama.
Losang Samten is now in his 70s and has been heading towards retirement. The creation of the Kalachakra Sand Mandala in Mount Shasta is another step towards the completion of a circle beginning at the American Museum of Natural History in 1988.
This 5 week exhibit is presented in coordination and with the cooperation of
the Mount Shasta Parks and Recreation District.
Free public viewing most afternoons, 12:30-5pm.
Reserved viewing times for a meditative atmosphere are also available in the mornings by donation.
Email msfotc@gmail.com for reservations.
Donations for T-shirts directly support the construction of the Sand Mandala. With your help, this event will be successful.
